: Essential building blocksfor skin, mucous membranes, and well-being

Fatty acids have many names. You've probably heard of fatty acids, omega fats, omega supplements, EFAs (essential fatty acids) - but why are they important (vital) for our health, how do we absorb them best and what are the differences between them? What is important for you to know in your choice of fatty acids?

Fatty acids that protect, balance, and moisturize

The beneficial fatty acids Omega-3, -6, -7, and -9 have many health benefits and important functions in the body, including for the skin, mucous membranes, and our general well-being.

Our bodies can produce fatty acids using carbohydrates and protein from the food we eat, but production decreases with age. The exception is the essential fatty acids Omega-3 and Omega-6, which we must obtain through food or supplements. They are found naturally in fatty fish, certain algae, berry seed oils, walnuts, and rapeseed oil, for example.

Today, we know that nutritional deficiencies/imbalances between Omega-3 and Omega-6 are very common in the Western world, which has led to increased dryness and sensitivity, among other things.

"Fatty acids are as necessary as vitamins for the skin. A lack of fatty acids causes many problems: skin becomes dry, inflamed and itchy. This can lead to skin problems, premature skin ageing and hair loss, as well as depression, concentration problems and cardiovascular disorders."

- Baoru Young, Professor at the University of Turku

The skin has a great need for Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids.

However, many of us have consistently low fat levels in our skin.

The right omega-6 is essential for life

The last century has seen dramatic changes in diet, agriculture and food production. This has led to major changes in our nutritional intake of essential fatty acids. Fat is supplied through the diet, but unfortunately in the form of trans fats and hydrogenated fats. When we consume rancid vegetable fats instead of beneficial omega-6 fatty acids, the risk of ill health increases. The omega-6 fatty acid GLA is converted by the body into substances with anti-inflammatory properties and is important for supporting both the skin barrier and our hormones. Therefore, it is not only the balance of essential fatty acids that is important for our health, but also the quality.

Use Nordic berry oils to strengthen your skin from within

Nordic berries are the omega source of the future: vegan, sustainable, and free from overfishing and environmental toxins.

Q for Skin capsules contain Nordic berry seed oils from blackcurrant and lingonberry, and sea buckthorn oil.

With cold winters and long, bright summer days, the berries are rich in essential fatty acids and natural antioxidants that are optimal for the skin's needs.

Blackcurrant seed oil contains naturally absorbable Omega-3 and GLA (Omega-6) in perfect balance. Supports the skin from within and gives a quick visible result.

In addition to important omega fatty acids, sea buckthorn oil contains abundant amounts of fat-soluble antioxidants in the form of natural carotenoids that protect our cells against stress. Carotenoids can be converted into vitamin A in the body. Vitamin A helps maintain normal mucous membranes and skin.

Lingonberry seed oil contains abundant omega-3 for vital skin and increased radiance.

High-tech and ecological pressing method produces pure fatty acids

It is the oil inside the berry seed that contains the essential fatty acids, but unfortunately the body cannot absorb these when we eat whole lingonberries or blackcurrants. The berry seed oil must therefore be extracted. When it comes to fatty acids, it is of the utmost importance that they are fresh and concentrated in order to have the best effect when applied to the skin.

The supplier we have chosen for the bearberry seed oil in our products obtains the seeds from the food industry, where they are a by-product of juice production. This reduces waste from the food industry and thus overall waste, as we are utilizing a by-product that would otherwise be discarded.

To extract fatty acids and antioxidants from the berry seeds, Q for Skin uses an organic and environmentally friendly carbon dioxide pressing method that is free from heat, solvents, and chemicals. This preserves the delicate fatty acids in their natural and bioactive form, allowing them to better nourish your skin. You simply get both fatty acids and fat-soluble nutrients of the highest quality.
