Q for Skin was created with the driving force
for women's right to quality of life
About 20 years ago, Q for Skin founder Florence Ellinor Nilsson became curious: is there anything that can make a difference when it comes to skin, intimate, and Scalp discomfort, which is so common? As a nurse by profession and with a constant focus on meeting people, finding solutions, and helping others, she began developing self-care products based on nutrition, science, and research.
With Q for Skin, Florence Ellinor Nilsson has challenged both the view of self-care and helped a large number of people who have long been troubled by extremely dry, sensitive, and reactive skin. The driving force is, and always has been, to give hope, zest for life, and real improvement. She has seen the effects of Q for Skin's method in her customers over the years, but has also experienced it herself when her life has been turned upside down.
Meeting people, finding solutions, and helping others has been a strong driving force; it made nursing an obvious career choice and is the reason she began developing self-care products for people with sensitive and reactive skin.

"It's not beauty care, but it results in beauty. For me, it's not about youthfulness, appearance, or selling a jar. I refuse to accept that people can't get help with their dryness problems. With the right nutrition, you can make a big difference to your quality of life."
- Florence Nilsson, founder of Q for Skin
The illness provided valuable insights
When Florence herself was diagnosed with aggressive ovarian cancer in February 2020, she experienced firsthand how crucial self-care can be. Chemotherapy treatments cause a range of difficult side effects, including dry skin, skin cracks, and dry mucous membranes, to name a few. Not looking sick, having a healthy glow and fullness in the face, and having soft skin provides important quality of life and reduces suffering.
- My doctor was surprised that I didn't have any problems with atrophic vaginitis, i.e., dryness and cracks in the genital area. It's extremely painful. I also haven't suffered from the usual skin problems that are common side effects. This is thanks to our self-care.

Protection for your skin when you really need it
For Florence, this has been a telling example of how Q for Skin can work as a complementary self-care product and further confirmation that all the work that has gone into developing a concept based on natural skin nutrition has been more than worth it.
- Thanks to Q for Skin, my skin and mucous membranes are healthy, which should be a given for everyone. Regardless of whether you have cancer or not, are taking hormones during menopause or not, or have dry mucous membranes due to stress, birth control pills, pregnancy, or any other reason. No one should have to accept this situation.
During her 35 years as a nurse in advanced home care, and as a head nurse and operations manager, she has met many people who have lived with dry skin, scalp, and intimate areas. This affects their lives both physically and mentally, and the feeling that the skin condition is permanent can be difficult to bear.
For Florence Nilsson, it became clear that self-care products were needed to support the skin. Her frustration at the lack of options on the market was the catalyst for Q for Skin. From the outset, the goal was to cater to sensitive skin in children, women, and men, which meant that strong perfumes, drying surfactants, strong preservatives, and essential oils were not welcome in the list of ingredients.
- I want it to be easy to take care of your skin, and I want it to feel good for everyone. I have grandchildren who have had problems with very dry, sensitive skin, and it can easily lead to stress and conflict when you have to use creams that are sticky, sting, and hurt. I want to offer something different.

Giving back and passing it on
When it comes to skin problems, there are many factors that influence the outcome, and change often requires both patience and consistency. This calls for someone who will listen and offer advice, and for Florence Nilsson, advice has always been part of Q for Skin. She no longer works in customer service herself, but anyone who needs guidance can book an appointment and use the self-assessment tool on the website.
"We work together with our customers, and sustainability is extremely important to us. This applies to ingredients, packaging, methods, effects, and customer service. Florence's strong determination and enormous efforts to achieve this are what make Q for Skin what it is today," says Linnéa Burström, Sustainability Manager and Head of Product Development at Q for Skin.
Florence Nilsson's drive to help others has been a recurring theme since the beginning, and has only grown stronger and more determined since her cancer diagnosis. Healthcare is vital, and she is deeply grateful for science and treatment methods. This has reinforced Q for Skin's fundamental mission to be the pillar of support that many people need.
"I am incredibly grateful for the healthcare I receive, and I am also grateful that through Q for Skin, I can give back to others who are looking for help. It means so much to be able to enable a better life. I want to give people quality of life, because in many cases that is what it is all about. Quality of life and hope are what we want to offer with real change. It makes such a difference, explains Florence Nilsson, founder of Q for Skin.
