Where does your stress manifest itself?

We are all different, and stress manifests itself in different ways. Some people experience scalp problems, while others suffer from dry/itchy skin, dry mucous membranes, or pimples.

When the skin is out of balance, you need to look at the whole picture to meet the skin's needs where it is today.

Having too much going on around you is a common stress factor, but things like diet, anxiety, hormonal imbalance, allergies, weather changes, changes, and illnesses can also have an impact.

Meeting your skin where it is today with the right products and nutrition, preferably both internally and externally, gives your skin the best chance to regain its balance.

Skin that is out of balance cannot tolerate active products. Instead, this can create stress and cause more skin problems. Unbalanced skin needs gentle nourishment that effectively protects, cares for, and makes the skin resilient.

Stress affects: skin & eyes

When I get stressed, it always affects my skin and eyes. Ever since I was young, I have had pimples, sometimes large boils. Now that I am over 40, I get small pimples on my chin when I am stressed. I also tend to get dry eyes, which water and tear up.

What has saved me is that I have been using Q for skin products since 2015 and couldn't imagine switching. My favorite is the new Omega Supreme capsules, which moisturize the skin from within and keep pimples at bay. They also help with my dry eyes. It's a product I can't live without.

Stress affects: the skin

Thanks to Q for Skin's products, I have been able to control my skin symptoms for several years now, but during stressful periods, I am reminded that rosacea is a chronic condition. If I have too much going on around me and too little time to recover, I quickly notice tendencies toward redness, heat, and, above all, rashes again.

At the first sign of skin imbalance, I increase the amount of blackcurrant capsules from two to four per day and add oil serum to my skincare routine in addition to Intensive Nourishing Cream to combat the problem from two angles. And of course, I try to prioritize yoga and winding down, but that's not always the easiest thing to do.

Stress sets in: in several places

It affects my thoughts and overall body sensation, which accelerates the pace and the feeling of needing to "work harder," which in turn causes my stomach to feel uncomfortable. My digestion worsens, combined with the fact that I chew less thoroughly, eat faster, and am more careless about what I eat. During these periods, I may simply skip meals to save time, which is quickly noticeable in my skin.

My problems are primarily in my palms these days, and during stressful periods, I quickly develop itching, which then leads to increased stress because the fear of the old problems returning is always lurking around the corner. My strategy is always to become aware that "I am currently experiencing a stressful period."

I pause more often during the day to take a few deep breaths and calm my system. I am more careful to eat in peace and quiet and not check my phone or multitask during meals. Creating a good plan is also important so that my mind can get some rest instead of constantly trying to keep everything in my head while being afraid of missing something. Good enough is something I remind myself of. Everything doesn't have to be perfect.

For me, mindfulness and meditation are important tools, as are exercise and spending time outdoors during daylight hours. It has a positive effect on my sleep and helps me to calm down. When I manage to maintain inner calm and a kinder tone towards myself during stressful periods, I find that my skin feels better. It is often internal stress that triggers problems rather than external situations."

Stress affects the scalp

"I have been a retailer of Q for Skin since 2012, and it actually started when I needed help with stress-related scalp rashes that were itchy and flaky. I got in touch with Q for Skin's founder, Ellinor, who recommended Quick Relief Shampoo and Blackcurrant Nourishing Oil, and it worked well in just a couple of weeks. I wanted more people to benefit from this, so I started selling the products in my health food store in Simrishamn.

Over the years, I have continued to use Quick Relief Shampoo as a treatment shampoo during stressful periods when my scalp starts to itch again, and it helps every time. Now that I've matured a bit, I also have to use Intensive Nourishing Serum on my scalp from time to time because it has become drier and needs a little extra nourishment.

I have been taking blackcurrant capsules for many years and I have noticed that I cannot skip them because then my symptoms return more quickly. So I am very careful about taking them!"

Stress affects: the skin

After contracting COVID-19, Tove began to experience several problems with her body, immune system, and skin. Tove had always had beautiful, delicate, and relatively problem-free skin, even though it was sensitive. In 2023, Tove's skin became dry, and small rashes spread across her entire face. They itched and hurt. An imbalance in her immune system created chaos in her gastrointestinal flora and triggered what turned out to be perioral dermatitis.

"I was surprised, because even though I had felt really bad at times in my life, it had never shown on my face before. Perioral dermatitis made my face spotty and red. I didn't recognize my skin, and the rash couldn't even be hidden with makeup. This affected me as a person; I became quite introverted and lost my self-esteem.

If you have real skin problems, simply applying products to your skin won't help. Skin needs support from within, which is why capsules are perfect, because skin also needs good fats that help moisturise , and you get those fats from the capsules. I started with two capsules and am now up to four capsules at night, when the skin rests and repairs itself. During the worst period of breakouts, I took 6 capsules for a period of time and noticed that the breakouts decreased even faster. After four months of using cream, serum, and capsules, my face is basically completely blemish-free."

Daily self-care, on weekdays and holidays, makes all the difference.

What can I do myself to take care of myself?

Daily self-care makes a big difference . A simple skincare routine is best if you have sensitive skin; the fewer products, the better. Using multiple products increases the risk of hypersensitivity. Q for Skin offers safe, reliable, and well-researched products that are multifunctional.
