Q for Skin was founded on a conviction: the skin needs nourishment to function. Behind the brand is Florence Ellinor Nilsson, a nurse with over 35 years of experience in advanced healthcare. Over the years, she met many patients with skin problems whose entire lives were affected; everything from sleep, relationships, and work to self-esteem. She saw that there was a need for self-care with self-care products. This was the starting point for Q for Skin.
We have developed a sensitive series of products that are specially adapted to be used if you have or have developed extremely dry and sensitive skin – something that is unfortunately becoming increasingly common. Our sensitive series contains neither fragrances, citric acid nor strong preservatives that are irritating to the skin.
How you experience the products can vary and therefore we recommend that you first try it on a small area to see how your skin reacts before applying it to your entire body. Sometimes it's cream and sometimes it's oil that feels most comfortable to apply. If you feel unsure, contact us and we will send you tests first.
Absolutely, Blackcurrant Oil is fantastic as a bath oil! Mix a few drops of oil into your bath water and let your skin be left soft and moisturised.
For extra dry and sensitive skin, we recommend applying the oil to exposed areas before bathing and showering. This protects the skin from the drying effect of water. It is even better if you also apply the oil after you have finished bathing/showering.
The scalp should have a natural fatty acid mantle that protects it. Regular shampoos can remove this mantle, leading to an itchy scalp, disturbed microflora, and problems such as dandruff and dry flakes. A stressed body does not prioritise the skin/scalp, which can worsen these issues.
To help restore the scalp, we recommend our Quick Relief Shampoo to balance the microflora and Intensive Nourishing Serum to restore dryness. For long-term results, Q Omega Supreme is recommended as a supplement.
It is common to have temporary imbalances during periods. Changing what you wash with can go a long way. Soap, even if it is a so-called intimate soap, can be drying, just like just water can be. We recommend Blackcurrant Oil before showering to protect against the drying effect of water, but also to add nourishing lipids to a dried-out intimate area. It is not moisture that is missing, but softening and nourishing fatty substances.
It is also important to consider what shampoo and other body wash you use as it can also dry out and disrupt the microflora in the vagina. We therefore recommend our mild, unscented Q Ultra Care, which is a gentle wash that helps maintain the natural balance in the vagina. If the symptoms persist after three weeks, we recommend that you seek help from a gynecologist.
