Many haircare products contain sulphates, silicones or synthetic fragrances. These ingredients can strip the scalp of its natural fatty acids and make it overreact with dryness or increased sebum production. Chemicals in hair dyes and treatments can also dry out or stress the scalp, especially if the skin is already sensitive.
The nutrients you eat become the building blocks of your body. If your body doesn't get, or isn't able to absorb, all the nutrients it needs, organs such as the brain, heart and liver are prioritised. Skin and scalp come last on the list, so a nutrient deficiency – especially of fatty acids – often shows up as problems right there.
Our bodies change throughout life. In general, we find it harder to absorb nutrients, and nutrient deficiencies become more common. That's why our duo for scalp concerns nourishes the scalp directly with our oil serum and balances microbes with our shampoo.
During hormonal shifts such as puberty, pregnancy and the menopause, our skin and scalp change because of our hormonal profile. At these times of life, we are particularly prone to scalp concerns. Q for Skin's scalp duo is effective, yet also safe to use throughout life.
Just like the skin on your face, your scalp is affected by the changing seasons, which can show up as dryness, itching or increased oil production.
When your body is stressed, your scalp is affected too. Imbalance can show up as itching, dryness or sensitivity.
For concerns such as itching, redness, greasy hair, build-up or dandruff, we focus on restoring balance to the scalp. We use a shampoo with microbiome-balancing properties that restores the microflora, cleanses gently and leaves hair soft, glossy and beautiful.
At the same time, we focus on the underlying cause, often a lack of important fatty acids, and therefore recommend our nutrient-dense oil serum, which supplies important fatty acids and remedies the problems caused by dryness.
This combination has proven to be very effective in reducing scalp concerns, both in the short and long term, so that you can enjoy a strong, healthy scalp without recurring problems.

Quick Relief Shampoo

Brush your scalp and hair with a soft natural-bristle brush in the morning to loosen build-up and dry flakes.
Feel free to wash your hair twice with Quick Relief Shampoo. It lathers less than a traditional shampoo – but cleans just as well.
Give it time. If the problems have been around for many years, it takes longer to get your scalp back in balance.
Your scalp should have a natural fatty acid mantle that protects it. When we wash with conventional haircare, this fatty acid mantle is also washed away, as these shampoos contain cleansing surfactants that are drying. Unfortunately, the result is often that the scalp starts to itch because of dryness, but also because the microflora may have been disrupted. This can then lead to build-up, dandruff and dry flakes, for example. It's also worth mentioning that the skin is deprioritised in a stressed body and therefore only gets building blocks if there is “something left over”. Our experience is that when you supply blackcurrant oil from the inside and outside, your body is supplied with building blocks so that it can prioritise your scalp.
For common scalp concerns, it may be enough to wash your hair with our special shampoo, Quick Relief Shampoo, which helps restore the microflora of the scalp. But if you have problems with dryness and/or dry flakes, we recommend also giving your scalp essential nourishment with blackcurrant seed oil. Blackcurrant Oil (unperfumed) or Intensive Nourishing Serum (with a mild natural scent) helps remedy the problems caused by dryness.
If you've had problems for a long time and want a more lasting result, we also recommend Q Omega Supreme from the inside.
It depends on how long you have had the problems and how extensive they are. If you have had problems for many years, it takes longer to get your scalp back in balance. Initially, we recommend massaging the oil into your scalp every evening and washing your hair with Quick Relief Shampoo in the morning for the first two weeks. After that, how often you need to keep it up varies from person to person.
We have chosen not to use SLS (Sodium Laureth Sulfate) but SCS (Sodium Coco Sulfate), which is derived from coconut oil. This sulphate (a cleansing surfactant) is much milder on the skin and a far more environmentally friendly alternative. The shampoo cleanses and lathers, but it doesn't produce nearly as much lather as a traditional shampoo.
If you're used to traditional shampoos, it can take a few washes for your hair to get used to the milder surfactants.
Don't spray the oil directly onto your scalp. Instead, spray a little oil into your palm, “dab” your fingertips in the oil and then massage it into your scalp. Do this in the evening before you go to bed. In the morning, brush your scalp and hair with a soft natural-bristle brush to remove any build-up and dry flakes. After the brush massage, wash your hair with Quick Relief Shampoo and, if needed, apply Q Conditioner to the ends and then rinse it out.
The skin on your scalp becomes stressed when it lacks natural oils and starts trying to compensate, which leads to an overproduction of sebum. It is also common for the microflora balance of the scalp to be disrupted when it is too dry. We recommend using Intensive Nourishing Serum, an oil serum that moisturises and counteracts problems caused by dryness. Massage the serum into your scalp in the evening and leave it on overnight.
In the morning, wash your hair with Quick Relief Shampoo, a treatment shampoo that restores the microflora balance of the scalp. Use it like an ordinary shampoo, and ideally wash your hair twice. If you use conditioner, our Q Conditioner is a good choice. It is unscented, nourishing and doesn't trigger a dry, and therefore more sensitive, scalp.
